Cherry blossom of Arashiyama 2009

Cherry blossom of Arashiyama.

The cherry blossom is called SAKURA to Japanese people.

There are many sightseeing place of cherry blossom in Kyoto, Arashiyama is one of the most popular sightseeing place of cherry blossom.

Every year, cherry blossom blooms last of March.
However, this year’s cherry blossom began to bloom middle of March.
We were surprised them.



But there is the cherry blossom which does not began to bloom yet.

Kurumazaki Jinjya Shrine

Do you know the Kurumazaki Jinjya Shrine?
This Shrine has strange cause of Shrine’s name.
Kurumazaki means stop a car.
Long long time ago, when Japanese emperor’s cow carriage gone along in front of this Shrine, the cow carriage suddenly stopped there.
The people of the followers of emperor pushed and pulled cow carriage, but this cow did not move an inch.
People called this Shrine Kurumazaki Jinjya Shrine after this matter.

I found small spring at Kurumazaki Jinjya Shrine.

An access to Kurumazaki Jinjya Shrine from Arashiyama.
If you use Randen railway company, Randen Arashiyama station – Saga station – Rokuouin station – Kurumazaki jinjya station, 4th station from Arashiyama station.
About 5 minutes ride.
One way 200yen.

Kyougen night in Daikakuji temple 2009 March

Do you know the Kyogen?
Kyougen is one of the Japanese traditional arts from the history over 650 years ago.
Kyogen is called Noh comedy in English.
Kyogen is part of Noh, but Kyogen is formed as one thing now.

Kyogen's actor is succeeded their boy by their father (patrimonal), they were keeping and protecting their traditional arts and they were changing their style to be correcting in the present age.

Kyogen's actor wraps the body in Kimono and plays funny content.

This event was played by SHIGEYAMA Kyougen family, they keep and protect their tradition in Kyoto.

This event's place is Daikakuji temple with keep and protect their tradition and the histry too.
Daikakuji temple is noble temple, with having strongly relations Japanese royal family.

It held the Kyogen in Daikakuji temple's hall, after night special visit and the sermon of the high priest.

The Daikakuji of traditional temple, the SHIGEYAMA Kyogen of traditonal arts and the Togetsutei's traditional Kyo-Kaiseki dinner!
It was wonderful night of Kyoto.

KADOMATU



KADOMATSU consist of 2 words, KADO and MATSU.
KADO means gate, KADOMATSU are put at the entrance.
MATSU means pine, KADOMATSU are made pine, bamboo and others.

The Japanese thought that God dwelled in KADOMATSU in old days.

Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro 2008

The word, Hanatouro is made two words, Hana mean flower, it is called Ikebana flower arrangement is displayed in spots Saga-Arashiyama area, and touro mean lighted up road, it is lighted up the Saga-Arashiyama area’s road by Japanese lamp.

Highlight is lighted up Togetsukyou bridge, bamboo forest, Saga-Arashiyama’s nature and flower arrangement.

Please enjoy Kyoto Arashiyama’s night.

Date from 12, Decenber to 21, Decenber.
Time 17:00 to 20:30.
