The flower of the plum

The flower of the plum is very good sign in Japan.
It blooms faster than other flower still cold before spring.
That is why, Japanese likes it.

There is a shrine which famous for a plum tree.
This is Kitano-Tenmanguu-shrine.







































This shrine god’s name is Sir. Mitizane Sugawara, he was very very smart parson, Japanese people say “this shrine is god of study.
When the university entrance exam period, so many examinee go to there.

And you can see some statues of cow in shrine, why?
A cow was servant of Sir. Mitizane Sugawara, therefore a believer sent statues of cow.

Ninnaji temple

Ninnaji temple is world heritage, has a national treasure and important cultural property.


This is a Gojyuunotou and important cultural property.
A Gojyuunotou was built in 1644.
This building’s height is 36.18 meters.
※A Gjyuunotou means Five Storied Pagoda.




This is a Kyozou and important cultural property.
A Kyozou was built in 1644.
※A Kyouzou means storehouse of sutras.



This is a Miedou and important cultural property.
A Miedou was built in 1624.

There is a lot of highlight in Ninnaji temple.








An access from Togetsutei to Ninnaji temple.
Randen train is best way.
①From Togetsutei to Arashiyama station of Randen train.(7minutes walk)
②From Arashiyama station to Katabiranotsuji station.(6minutes train ride and transfer)
③From Katabiranotsuji station to Omuro-Ninnaji station.(6minutes train ride)
④From Omuro-Ninnaji station to Ninnaji temple.(3minutes walk)

That is Ninnaji temple.

Kitanotenmanguu shrine’s plum.

Kitanotenmanguu shrine’s plum.

Do you know Kitanotenmanguu shrine?
This shrine is god of study and is famous for plum.

There are 2000 plum trees of 50kinds.

The plum trees become full bloom on March.







Period : from beginning of February to end of March.
Time : 10:00 ~ 16:00
Cost : adult 600yen child 300yen.

Matsuo Taisya Shrine’s information

A Japanese mountain rose, called Yamabuki, is full bloom now, at Matsuo Taisya Shrine.
A Japanese mountain rose is small yellow flowers.

Matsuo Taisya shrine is far from Arashiyama about 25 minutes walk.
If you use Hankyu train, few minutes ride from Arashiyama station to Matsuo station.
When you get off the train gate, you can see a big red structure.
The big red structure is entrance of Matsuo Taisya Shrine.




The language of flowers for Yamabuki is Dignity, Sublime, and Can hardly wait.
