A traditional summer event on 16 August 2010
This is holy event, “Gozan Okuribi” is called in Japan.
(A Five Mountain Send-off Bonfire is called in English)
There is a BON in Japan.
Ancestral souls return to their home in BON period.
16 August is final day of BON period, and this day people send their ancestral souls for their world.
Gozan Okuribi fire is landmark of soul’s world entrance.
Ancestral souls return to their world from BON fire.
Therefore BON fire is holy fire.
When Japanese people see the BON fire, people match their hands.
Match hands is called “Gaasyou” in Japan.

ARASHIYAMA MONKEY PARK IWATAYAMA
ARASHIYAMA MONKEY PARK IWATAYAMA is Japanese monkey zoo.
It can be seen only here in Kyoto and there are about 170 of Japanese monkeys.
IWATAYAMA is small mountain, you walk to go up mountain road.
It takes 20minutes walk to go up mountain road, you can see a fine view place of Kyoto city.
This fine view place is no cage, you can see a mode of Japanese monkey life before very eyes.
It is possible to make Japanese monkeys take to feeding.
※monkey’s feed cost is 100yen.
About Japanese monkey life,
The span of Japanese monkey life is about 30years old.
In past, a most advanced age’s monkey is 33years and 10months old in this park.
This monkey is female, female monkey is long life than male monkey.
About Japanese monkey’s child,
If you visit the ARASHIYAMA MONKEY PARK IWATAYAMA during April to July, maybe you can see a child monkey!
Please attention,
Monkeys are aiming your bag and food.
Don’t have an eye contact to monkeys, sometimes monkeys get angry with eye contact.
Place : It takes 2minutes walk from Togetsutei.
Take a seeing time : about 1hour.
Charge : adult 550yen, under 15years old child 250yen, under 3years old child free.
Time : 9:00~17:00 ※November 21th ~ march 14th 9:00~16:00
Period : It is open throughout the year.

Ninnaji temple
Ninnaji temple is world heritage, has a national treasure and important cultural property.
This is a Gojyuunotou and important cultural property.
A Gojyuunotou was built in 1644.
This building’s height is 36.18 meters.
※A Gjyuunotou means Five Storied Pagoda.
This is a Kyozou and important cultural property.
A Kyozou was built in 1644.
※A Kyouzou means storehouse of sutras.
There is a lot of highlight in Ninnaji temple.
An access from Togetsutei to Ninnaji temple.
Randen train is best way.
①From Togetsutei to Arashiyama station of Randen train.(7minutes walk)
②From Arashiyama station to Katabiranotsuji station.(6minutes train ride and transfer)
③From Katabiranotsuji station to Omuro-Ninnaji station.(6minutes train ride)
④From Omuro-Ninnaji station to Ninnaji temple.(3minutes walk)
Omuro-Ninnaji station of Randen train.
You can see this view, when you get off the Omuro-Ninnaji station.
That is Ninnaji temple.
